Muffler Delete exhaust woes

I recently decided to do a muffler delete, and honestly it sounds great... with the windows down. For some reason when driving with the windows up it really amplifies the deep and annoying drone at 3-4k rpms. I have already completely sound dampened my front doors and have plenty to do most of my trunk. My question is, should I do the trunk? Or is there any way to put a muffler right before the Y in my catback straight pipe? Please refrain from negative comments regarding your distaste for muffler delete exhausts and keep it to suggestions on reducing the drone. Thanks

Also if a moderator could move this to diy, or aftermarket performance mods I'd appreciate it so I don't have to repost when I hit 10 posts.

im sure you could custom fab a small round muffler between where the cat and the front of the muffler goes (OEM set up for reference) but im not sure how much it will help and probably burn out quick. i could recommend some reall good hearing protection i use for shooting depending on your budget lol

You can do anything that fits I'd you have the money or the skill and equipment.
Doing a custom setup takes about a full day (or 2 if things get tricky) and about $4-500 of pipe and mufflers ( for good SS stuff) ..and $1K of labor for install and welding

Custom setup meaning a muffler on the midpipe? I've seen one guy recommend a magnaflow but I'll have to find the video.

It's almost like your muffler was... muffling the noise.

I wonder if you could just add a resonator or glasspack to change the harmonics.

Yeah, ha ha ha. I suppose I can get the turboxs or whatever but quite a few people have said that will drone as well. I guess I was trying to figure out if anyone has been able to do a muffler on the midpipe and if that would even make a difference. I'm only like 200$ in on the exhaust but oh well...

Let me guess: is one of those products is the BHR Resonated Midpipe?

I wonder if you could alter the resonance/harmonics of the cabin enough by keeping light but rigid objects in the back seat.

Interesting, if a good midpipe could fix it I would happily do it. I do have my stock resonator right now.

This guy over here bringing bandwidth and Q factor into play . Let's turn our exhaust systems into notch filters while we're at it.

Never even thought of it that way. Very cool stuff indeed.
