Muffler Question

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has just cut and welded new mufflers on their RX-8. I'm not looking for performance gains, but looking to improve the sounds(also I'm aware cat back systems for our 8's don't give us very much hp anyways). Do we use 2.5in inlet with 3in outlet? Thanks!

I think the answer is going to be a "no". Why wouldn't you just buy a cat-back from a reputable vendor with proven sound and quality, like Racing beat or Borla?

because it's cheaper to just hack up the OE and weld in some universal mufflers?

use these mufflers to prevent raspy tinny exhaust that doesn't blow packing if you decide to go custom: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mor-94051

or get them from BHR.

and yes 2.5 in and whatever you want out ... common is 3 - 4" tips, but match the outlet pipe to your inlet.
