My 2004 rx 8 dies while driving

I have a 2004 rx 8 with 160,000Km and I was driving it with the traction control off and I was driving it a little hard I did a couple peel outs then I was driving and was turning a corner I put it in second revved high and dropped the clutch did a little drift and I kept going and about ten seconds after I lost power and the car shut off. It's never happened to me before so I pulled over and started it back up and traction control was back on and everything was ok I drove away and it ran fine, do I have a problem? I don't get why it would just shut off
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

Is it possible that you lost fuel to the engine during a hard turn?

Have you changed out your ignition components (spark plugs, wires, coils) recently?

I don't think I lost fuel I did the turn hard drive for about ten seconds and it died and today just now I was just driving it normally for about 30 minutes and it did it to me again at a stop light but I just started it again and it started running.

And no I haven't done any of that I just bought the car privately about 3 weeks ago ran great until that started happening to me yesterday.

Do you know how old are your ignition components?
If not then replace them asap, they may not be directly linked to your issue. but they are a very critical maintenance item.

Also, inspect your air filter, if its drowned in oil and dirt it will starve your engine of fresh air and cause the car to shut down.

did you get a compression test done? if so, what were the scores?

I have no idea how old the ignition components are i will get on that ASAP.

And do u have any instructions on how to check my filter? I am very new to rotary engines I don't really know how to do much on them.

And no I haven't done a compression test am I able to do that myself?
I just bought the car about 3 weeks ago so Ibe just been trying to soak up as much information on them as possible.

Hey Santos.

The link Im posting below is very important, read it as much as you can.

https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/

Compression Test can only be done at Mazda or a rotary shop. Mazda is preferred

The air filter is in the big black box under the hood right next to coolant reservoir.
Disconnect the rubber accordian tube thats going from the box to throttle body,
Push the box a little and then pull outside. Box is secured with 4 clips. untie them and open the box and the filter should be right there.

Or just buy the parts from mazda or order BHR Ignition kit and have any trusted mechanic do the tuneup, watch them how they do it, its fairly simple and a DYI is also available on the forum in case you decide to do it yourself later.

this car is easy to work on, and expensive to have someone else do it for you. So read the thread above, get the compression, have the ignition parts changed, and then report back.

Hope this helps..
