My Brief RX8 Experience Has Come To a Close
As I totaled my newly purchased RX8 that I bought after I totaled my Miata, it looks like it's a 2015 Nissan Versa for me. I was going to buy another RX8 but the only one in the area for sale looks like a piece of junk and is currently awaiting installation of a new motor. The person installing the motor and doing the body work is about 6 months behind schedule so I don't have time to see how the restoration works out. Thanks for the help on this board. I was really starting to like this car. I keep totaling cars due to a medical condition which went previously undiagnosed. I need to first get the medical clearance before driving my Nissan which isn't as much fun (obviously) but provides economical practical transportation.

You have a medical condition that causes you to repeatedly total cars?
Why are you still driving?
I hope you don't end up killing someone.

I'm not driving now. I will be once my condition is stabilized. My blood pressure kept dropping dramatically and I'd pass out. I believe it was pharmaceutically induced. I was on several prescriptions that can cause low BP. I think it's just a matter of getting those drugs out of my system. When I start driving again, it looks like it'll be in a Nissan.

But I feel you...when I let go of my 1990 RX-7 GXL back in 2011 due to a cracked frame, it had 250,000+ miles on the Original Engine still running...I thought that was it for me from the Rotary Engine scene since was already married...I drove a 2004 Toyota Corolla for 5 years and a 2016 Toyota Prius for 6 months but driving became boring...I really wanted another RX-7 but even with a back seat I can barely fit my kids in it...
6 Months owning the 2016 Prius, I started looking into the RX-8...Just a few weeks I found my 2010 RX-8 GT (went with a GT instead of an R3 cause I figured I can always add the R3 options later but its harder for me to add the GT stuff on the R3) and traded in the Prius and ended up with cash in my pocket...Now I find excuses to go drive somewhere even with the kids LOL.

Hopefully, you get better in the future. It will suck to lose another car and potentially your life as well.
I am a bit surprised to hear that someone came from RX-7 would drive a Prius. Before I bought my V6 Accord, I test drove a Prius C, and oh boy was it boring. Takes forever to accelerate. Granted, it's a Prius C, but I'd still look at some other options.
RX-8 is fairly practical. It has more comfortable back seats than the ones in Mustangs and Camaros. I also prefer the GT because I like having the sunroof and seat heaters; Recaro seats are not as big of a deal for me, and if I really want the 19" rims, I can just buy them and put them on.

Yeah it was bad...Whats worse is the 2016 scion FRS was actualy cheaper then the 2016 Prius too...but the FRS back seats is mostly for show so that aint gonna fly with my fam. But yeah that prius was slow....and the funny part is the car actualy feels light, but severely lacking in power...but you do feel an instant torque for the first 2 seconds LOL.

Another reason I didn't go with a Prius is because they are used as taxis here, and some taxi drivers do the strangest stuff in Prius, like braking uphill for absolutely no reason.
Good family cars are not all boring; sounds like you could have picked something else that's good on gas. If you like MT, Corolla has it, Civic has it, Accord has it. These are all good family cars that can have a bit of flavor with a stick.
That would be cool to have the RX-7s and the RX-8 in the garage.

Hope you get well and that it will be safe for you to drive soon. And remember, the 8 is not a popular used car. There will always be some available, including ones in good mechanical shape if you take the time to hunt them down. And they won't cost a lot compared to other used sports cars. So you will be able to have one again if you really want one.
