if this is your absolute first car i would suggest leaving traction control on until you find a LARGE parking lot with no curbs or light poles to learn the limits of your car.

Hell, everyone should do this with ANY car. Do it with DSC/TCS on, too! Learn what it feels like to lose control of your car and what's likely to happen, while you're in a safe area. Then, keep doing it until you learn to avoid losing control. After that, stay WAY within the limits of your car and skill on the street. Be safe.
