my new rx8 needs new engine gutted is understatment what to do?
Hi guys i bought a lovely black 05 plate rx8 auto 25k miles 2 months ago. Just gotten it back from the garage and it has hot start issues. The guy is going to phone me and quote a price?. If i replace starter motor will this hide the problem?. Just going to put sold and seen on the advert 3k down the drain.

Not entirely sure what your question here is.
But yes, lots of owners dump the car when they find out their engine is failing, so new owners are often stuck with the engine failure. This is why we so heavily press people to get a compression test before they buy an RX-8. If it's good, you are good. If it's not, walk away.

Probably not with a series I starter. You could put a series II starter on it and it would start. We tested this theory on a buddies RX8 when his engine was failing and with the Series II starter it would start up just fine when hot. But a series II Rx8 starter is almost $500.00

What's the cranking speed? And the individual rotor faces?
The difference from one face to the next is important, as well as the lowest of the 3 faces. And none of the values are useful without a cranking speed of the test.
Even 6.1 could be a fine compression value if the cranking speed is low enough

There's a little text box at the top of the page. Use it and search. There are tons of threads about renesis maintenance.
