My RX & Greetings

Hey RX enthusiasts...I've been a RX8 owner since Oct 2004. I have a beautiful blue RX8, but it's 2nd engine is dead (no compression). I was looking to find some recommendations from the RX gurus out here on what direction I should go in. I would like to resurrect it with a either a rebuilt engine, a new engine, or just sell it to someone cheap that wants a new project. It would be fun to have it for my wkend car or go to the local track & burn some carbon off...but I also want some better reliability out of it. See I have a love/hate relationship with my RX8...it seemed like an endless money pit majority of the time, but I really enjoyed driving it (when it worked, LOL!). Anyways, if you can recommend someone that does rebuild wankels, please comment below, that would be great appreciated!

Cheers!
Chan

There's Rotary Resurrection on the east side of Tenessee that gets great reviews on his rebuilt Renesis engines! Good pricing from what I've read too.

Only 2 engines in 16 years, doesn't sound too bad. How many miles did you achieve before needing new engines?

1st original engine had approx 60k miles...2nd engine Mazda replaced only lasted 48k miles...it sits now with 108k on a dead engine.

Thxs Peter for the info! Appreciate it!

Looks like Rotary Resurrection is super busy.

I wonder if trying the electric car route in this RX8 would be an option?

Update of my RX8

Well, after doing more research and reaching out to Rotary Resurrection about my dead 2004 RX8 AT...I shipped the car to TN from AR the first week of April 2021. I just drove it back to AR Sunday/Monday morning (4/26/21) after Rotary Resurrection did a AT to MT conversion. I have to say the whole experience was stressful (car transport), meeting RR schedule on-time, BUT it was ALL worth it! I am very happy how it all turned out. The price was right, and the engine swap/rebuild was MUCH faster than I anticipated. He also did several other replacements for me that needed it, even gave me some credit on the old parts so he can revive those and possibly use it for another customer, which is great! Communication was very thorough and all questions were answered and recommendations were given. I highly recommended using Rotary Resurrection for any of your RX needs, as his prices are reasonable and does quality work. CHEERS!
