Ive been drooling over the eight for YEARS, and now the time has finaly come. I will be checking out a very promising buy tomorrow. 06 manual base with 53k for $6,000. Hoping i dont let the excitment get to me. Everyones advice has been really helpful.

Get a compression test from a Mazda rotary mechanic as part of the contingency for the deal.

You'll probably want to factor in the cost of a replacement of the engine coils as well. At 53k, unless they've just been recently replaced they are probably due.
Additionally look for maintenance records of how often they changed the oil / fluid etc...

passed the compressioin test with flying colors everything under the hood is like new. The problem areas include the front and rear bumpers, really grimmy head lights, and the previous owner did a crappy job of installing an after market radio.
