Welcome to the club and congrats on getting an 8..

Give us some more details about your car.
Mileage?
Auto / 6spd?
did you do the compression test?
Post some pics and yes, definitely read the new potential owner's thread.

Well on just personal experiences whats the best thing to start at you know? Like the cheapest most needed thing changed (unfortunately) a Auto Rx8 2004 I would've like a manual but not my choice just glad to have gotten a car. I have read most of the forums and the biggest question i have really is where is the to start tuning up or (modifying) my Rx8.

You haven't read most of the applicable forums!
In the new members forum, there are threads called "stickies". They're found at the top of every page.
Read the new and potential owners and the congratulations you got an 8 threads. Then move to the modding for newbies thread.

Just to get you going.
this is what I did when I picked up my first 8 an 04 6spd

DOn't look for power steering fluid lol we dont have any ;-)
Oil and filer – 10W30 though mazda recommends 5W20 that's too thin
Trans oil change - Redline MT90
Rear end oil change - Redline 75x90
fuel injector cleaner - BG 44k
Change radiator fluid - Grab it from Mazda
Air filter -
Cabin Filter -
Spark plugs – NGK RE7CL and RE9BT (2 each)
Ignition Coils + Leads

These are all maintenance item, depending on how old your plugs and coils are you may or may not need to change them.

Get your CAT inspected for sure, if it's clogged it may kill your engine.
Your biggest issue right now is, 04 automatic it comes with 4 port renny.
Get the compression test.

People here are really helpful and friendly, but if you ignore their advice and suggestions then you are on your own. Read the threads as mentioned by Rx8Soldier and others and if you have any questions, feel free to ask :-)

Wish you all the best.
