New 2009 RX8 R3 Owner

Hello!

A few months ago I purchased a 22,000mi 2009 Blue RX8 R3 from a dealer and had it shipped here to New Mexico.

When I was looking for a new sports car from an older 2005 Mini Cooper S, I had a few requirements.
1. Repair - Parts had to be easy to replace, not require multiple special tools, most work should be able to be done by reasonable mechanics, and it shouldn't cost me an arm and a leg just to do basic maintenance! (Damn you BMW for being so expensive)
2. Usefulness - Must have 4 doors with more back seat room than the Mini. and must not be a convertible.
3. Sportness - Needs to have better handling than the Mini, at least 200BHP, and great steering feel and transmission.
4. Quirkyness - and most important it needs to be unique, fun, and always make me smile.

This limited my choices down quite a lot, and I was tempted to get a Speed3 but it wasn't quite quirky enough. This is when I started research into the RX8's. Even though they require high maintenance it fits my need perfectly!

Since her purchase in March 2014 I have upgraded to the BHR ignition, started premixing, and now purchasing the AEM Intake.

Next I need to upgrade the radiator since Track days during the summer means running in 105 F weather and if I can get the Thermostat changed to start moving at a lower temp to keep it safe.

Thanks for reading, and I am so happy to be part of this new club

Welcome to the club! Love the Aurora Blue R3's! If i could bare to sell my rx8, that would be the one i would get to replace her! I've had very little issues with my 8 since i got her back in 04 but i guess i was lucky compared to many others. Just make sure to maintain her and you'll be fine!

Also, if you need spare r3 wheels, i have a set of 3 im thinking about selling

Also, post pics!!!

Welcome, congrats on the new Rx8! I am also an R3 owner and its a super great package for a super great car.

On a side note, my previous owner was big into keeping the car in prime condition. He advised me NOT to use premix due to the extra injector added on S2 Rx8s, rather just keep the oil topped off.
