WI New 8 Owner

Well since Im new to this forum I guess I'll start here and introduce myself. My name is Shawn, this is my first Rx8 but my 10th or so rotary powered vehicle. I've been a rotary owner since '99 and my garage currently houses both my 2008 40th anniversary edition and my 91 FC vert with turbo conversion. I've been a rx7club member for many years and have been lurking in this forum for about a year just absorbing what I can. I hope this community is as helpful as the 7 club has been over the years and I look forward to many years of enjoyment and modification on my 8.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your first RX8! I'm sure you gonna love it! What plans do you have for it by the way?

Would be great to see some pictures of your rides. Post up some for us when you have a chance.

Feel free to reach out if you ever needed anything.

Grats on your 8! Also, I second that pics request.

As for the community, I've found many of the members here to be very helpful. Couple of them have gotten me out of some major jams

Plans were to leave it relatively alone (but that never happens). I picked it up with 35,000 end of Feb last year. I did performed a tune up right away and added some Rockford fosgate 10" and amp to the trunk for a bit more bass. I'd originally only planned for some suspension and may exhaust mods, but the turbo bug is strong and this 8 needs to at least keep up with my 7

Well I caved, had the compression checked today, all good. 8.1 and higher on each rotor. Rear shocks are leaking (damn Bilsteins) and my coils are getting a bit weak at 49k miles now, but looks like there's a Greddy turbo kit on its way to my door. Gonna order up some new coils and start stock piling parts for the swap. Wish me luck. Gotta give it a bath and snap some pre-mod photos tomorrow.

Well, been a few months, got screwed on the turbo kit (long story short it was double sold, seller dipped although I see he's still on the forum), made a paypal claim and got my cash back (thank __insert deity of your choosing___) and plans changed a bit. Wound up with some 25mm spacers and Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and Rx8performance.com coil packs. I still need to snap pics but my phone is dead. Also added a stock navi unit with Samsung 7in tab in the dash. I'll hopefully grab some cleaned up photos this weekend.

Like added it to an existing system or started from scratch or built a totally different DIY Nav setup?

I took advice and hints from some of the builds in the interior/electronics section. Factory nav display housing (my 8 didn't come with nav), gutted and modified to house a Samsung 7in tablet. Grom audio integration adapter and elm327 bluetooth dlc obd2 dongle to interface with the vehicle. I utilized the factory pcb board to control the opening and closing of the lid.
