New Buy Parameters to Monitor via ODB
Hi,
I'm interested in purchasing a Mazda rx-8 my mechanic and I took a close look at it but weren't able to identify any issues with the engine. What parameters should I monitor form the ODB port to be more sure that there are not issues ?
Thanks
TeT

Thanks for your reply, yet that I know, I was checking if there is some parameter that one needs to look for not specifically for compression but for the general health

It shouldn't have any codes... if it does then that's a good place to start. Common ones are 300 codes that are missfires. Common when the ignition is getting old.
You could see CAT codes that could indicate the CAT is tired or not there.
Other than that wont likely see much

Not much to look for in OBD that is rotary specific. OMP issues for example wont be seen on most casual code readers from OBD.
Alot of the 13b MSP issues can be traced with feel and knowledge tbh (and connections to people who know these).
