New cat and coils but still noted power loss
2004 rx8 150k third owner. Cel light came on so I took it to the dealer to have the code read. (only just bought my own code reader yesterday) said the cat needed replaced and that gave the cel code, coils in bank 1 and plug wires (plugs had already been replaced in the past month). $2,500! Wasn't happening. So I got my parts from Auto zone; cat/muffler system, two coils and plug wires. I swapped out the coils last night and the cat, (haven't done the plug wires yet they are still on order), cleared the code by disconnecting the battery, and started it up. Cel light stayed off and after letting it warm up, shut it off, restarted it and it stayed off after second start. took it for a test drive, and it ran and sounded good. Only a noted loss in power in the lower rpm ranges. I know it never has that much power down there, but it seems to have lost some pep.
So all that to ask, could it be the aftermarket cat being too restrictive?
Notes:it's a Walker rx8 cat. Coils in bank 2 replaced less than 10k ago and yes, I know I replaced the two old coils. (why the dealer only replaced two a few months ago I'll never know)

To be honest I don't know the exact code. It's not on any of the paperwork I got back from them. :-( I THINK it was P0420
That's the doozy is the new cat is not tripping the cel and there is no code to read.
