New Clutch?
Hello Rx8 Forum
Im currently putting a new motor in my rx8 and my clutch is fine but it has some decent milage on it, and a new clutch isnt (that) bad of a purchase since the engine is going to be out of the car.
I was wondering between 2 clutches which one i should get and what kind of puck i should get suitable for a daily driver
I was thinking between the Exedy Stage 1 either 3 or 4 puck, i havent made up my mind on that
Or an ATC 4 puck clutch.
Im not too familiar with clutches so i was wondering a good guess and what you guys think i should go with.

Posted a few days ago in a thread where someone else asked the exact same question:

OE clutch is best. BHR has a good price on it (about 1/4th the cost from a dealer). The Exedy Stage 1 is inexplicably unreliable when it comes to installation tolerances, and may be incompatible right out of the box, or fail far too early. My first Stage 1 only lasted 20,000 miles on the same (or easier) driving than my original factory that lasted 89k. My 2nd Stage 1 lasted 100 miles (no typo) of engagement problems, weird noises, and starting to shred before I swapped in an OEM clutch that worked perfectly the first time.
Other aftermarket clutches have variously reported mixed results as well. Some work stellar, some don't, many have inconsistent reports.
OEM is sufficient torque capacity for an N/A Renesis however, so it's your best bet.

delta: avoid the exedy stage 1, people have been having issues with them as of late.
Go with the OEM clutch, it's a stage 1 already and has Zero issues with even the highest HP Naturally Aspirated RX-8's
