New clutch noise... normal???
So I recently got a new clutch and flywheel installed. Went with the exedy stage 1 and the ACT street-lite flywheel. Now I hear this strange rattle/grind sound when I'm letting the clutch out in first gear and reverse. Its definitely more prominent in reverse. I also hear it when idling and I push the clutch in at a stop. I read the sticky about symptoms and causes and it lists aftermarket clutch or lightweight flywheel as a possible cause, does that mean its normal? Going to take it back to the mechanic tomorrow to have him listen to it but just wanted to see if anyone had any info on it til then... Thanx in advance.

RIWWP, can you help me?
Made a post about having a new clutch noise and didn't get any responses, but I had a question for you concerning the symptoms and causes thread. Under Transmission/Clutch issues it says this:
transmission rattling when the clutch pedal is down:
aftermarket clutch
lightweight flywheel
Just wondering if this means the rattle might be normal or that the aftermarket clutch/lightweight flywheel might have an issue??? Would really appreciate your input, thanx man!

And this one as well:
Regarding your problem, it's almost certainly the clutch itself. The Exedy Stage 1 has known fitment / compatibility problems. I had one burst on me in 20k of driving and a 2nd never actually work right, and I replaced it after only 100 miles. Stick with the OEM clutch. It fits, it's cheap, it has more torque capacity than an N/A engine can throw at it, and it will last 90k+.

Ah my bad man, I'll have to go over those again... Don't post much. Thanx for your reply though... Going to look into getting an oem and hope I can return the stage 1.

heavy flywheel sucks up vibration. vibration makes noise. I think it is a fact of life. with light flywheel, you get a lot more high frequency vibration. Something is resonating. Get a huge hose clamp and start wrapping it around exhaust heat shields first. If it goes away, you now know what was rattling.

I actually took it back to my mechanic this morning. put it up on the lift and listened to it and said it sounds like the throw out bearing. got an oem on the way, wish I would've researched the stage 1 a little more before committing...
