New to the forum, excited for the car!

Hello,

For a long time, I have wanted to have a rotary in my garage. Finally, the dream has come true. I just received a completely stock 2004 RX8 in bright silver with under 60k on the clock! I had to get rid of my prized weekend warrior JCW Mini for it, but yo have a rotary as my weekend fun will be special for sure.

Currently, I plan on only doing a few choice modifications to the car. However, I am open to any and all suggestions.

1. Powdercoat wheels
2. K&N filter
3. A set of performance springs, perhaps Tanabe
4. FEED GT Wing
5. Carbon fiber front lip

Since I want to take this to the mountains and the local track, wanted to keep modifications to a minimum and be able to get better tires and brakes as I burn them up.

Excited for this new experience

Welcome...

Yeah, a little more info would be good.

Also, for an 04, check out my $100 thread in my signature. The MAF and a few other things are in there, all good reliability stuff.

Also, where are you, share that an you can get some good tips on track options.

And, again, welcome

need help

Hey fellas I've had my 8 for about 4 months now ... It's a 6 speed GT 08 and I'm just starting to really explore past minor matanance and well I was going to check the spark plugs for fowleing but what I thought was the spark plugs ... Wasn't the sparkplugs ... I know were the spark plugs r now after ACTUALY doing a smig of research but what I pulled of the engine I have no idea what it actually is or if it was even supposed to come off ??? What I pulled off was on the top drivers side of the engine ... There were 4 of them in a row.. andwell the looked like a normal cars spark pluge cap and wire ???. It made a cracking sound as I pulled it off and inside was a spring in a little cup looking piece that went down into another cup like thing with a needle like piece in the center ... What was it I pulled off ?? Was it supposed to come off ?? And did I just destroy my beautiful car 8'$.... Can I fix it without spending a lot budgets kinda tight till I get my first paycheck on the 15th

Sounds like you pulled of the Coils. They are designed to be removed, however the biggest challenge at this point is replacing the leads backs to plugs in the proper order. There are a few threads around here with the diagram. I'm too lazy to look for it right now. No you have not harmed the car by simply removing them. I'm not 100% sure what happens if you run the car with them in an improper order, but I would just make sure they are right before you drive it.

Thanks guys put my mind at ease ... And I only removed 1 cuz after it came apart I knew that what ever it was I didn't know about it so I tryed putting it back after an hour of panicking lol but anyway yea I only removed 1 so the order isn't a problem but thanks though I might need it for after I get paid and try to upgrade the ignition system to BHRs B-)

Enjoy the car the way it is for a few months take her on a track and see for yourself what shes got to offer and where you can make improvements, and go from there..

It should have Tokicos struts and springs they are aftermarket to begin with :-) so thats a bonus and 8 handles like a dream..

I'd highly suggest you upgrade your ignition to BHR and get rid of the cat i wish I had done it earlier would have saved me enough money for next mods..

Post some pics..

So....bad news. I started out with maintenance items first, beginning with the trans and diff. However, on the way to the dealer, I notice the car running sluggish and the oil pressure just dropped. Took it to where I purchased it, and luckily thanks to Georgia Lemon Law, got my mini back and they had to take the 8 off my hands.

Back to the drawing board. I will continue looking
