Hi ive owned my 8 for about 7 months now and ive been looking to start a project. i took my car from north wales to rotary revs, where i had a 1st year service a new battery and fitted a brand new miltek exhaust which made the drive home a lot better as before hand the exhaust tips had rusted off. while i was their they informed me that i need new drop links and a caliper needs replacing, among the list of things i want to do to my car.
so id like to upgrade the disks, calipers, pads and break lines, starting with the calipers can anyone recommend a good type i'm only using the car as my daily, but id like to set it up as a well tuned spirited drive car and very occasional track day set up. so spending 1k+ right now seems a bit much, would a set of reconditioned calipers be enough if get better break pads.
if anyone knows of good literature they can ling me too, that would be great too. its always good to learn and i understand not everyone has the patience to teach newbies

for a large majority of individuals, the stock brake system is pretty superb. Granted it benefits from better pads (appropriate for the percentages of use the car will see on street vs track), better brake fluid and braided lines in my experience. Best bet would be stock calipers, new rotors, new brake lines (stock or stainless steel braided), and some good quality pads (since its your daily I wouldn't get anything too aggressive that would create any squealing or screeching, better off with stock pads for the time being)

Stock brake's with some pads and rotors is all you really need.
I just have some normal rotors with some HPS+ pads and that's all you could really ever want on the street/track. I would recommend like HPS or something like that but of course there's always other company's/ different types. It just all depends on how you want you're brakes and if you want to deal with brake dust for a good set of brakes

Brakes are one area this car doesn't skimp on. If you want flash that's a different story, but performance-wise even for track duty stock calipers + good pads is all you need.
Especially if you are sticking to stock-like pads, upgrading the calipers is money you could spend better elsewhere, like suspension.

thanks for all your messages ill set up a build page soon and breakdown my plans so people can see what i'm up to, im always up for listening to suggestions and peoples knowledge.
so ill upgrade to braided cables, get new disks all around with standard calipers (ill paint then before i fit them to tidy it up a bit.) and i was thinking yellowstuff pads.
its $460/ £360 for new disks, $846/ £680 for calipers, $89/ £80 for braided cables, $201/ £180 yellowstuff pads but that totals to $1452/ £1300 but ill keep looking for a better deal on calipers maybe their will be some refurbished ones will metal pistons that i can find.
a quick search led me to a company called "TRW" where i found disks and calipers for $766/ £600 which is a saving of $561/ £440
it will probably be the way i go but has any one ever used their parts?

Stoptech or Hawk pads on standard rotors should work for almost any situation you mentioned. Track day would be fine but I think most of the guys that track their cars use Carbotech pads. Big brake kits for the RX8 are pretty expensive and for most situations are unnecessary, and the cheap ones are from companies I wouldn't exactly trust.
I went with Stoptech pads and solid rotors with my V8 swap. They do work pretty good but I still get the feeling I should ideally switch to some bigger calipers if I want to do some demanding driving (track, etc.)
