New to forums and should I buy?

Hello all, while looking for a parts car I came across an 04 base AT with 74k miles. He says the car will start and idle fine, but when you put it in drive and touch the gas it stalls. I know it could be anything from coils, wires and plugs to a clogged CAT (which is what he thinks) or even possibly bad seals in the engine and he wasnt sure if the engine light was blinking or not.

Ive looked through the forums and I have only came across them stalling in idle or after driving a while. I would like some seasoned input on the car. The price is a steal considering the condition of the car and if it was a MT i would of been on my way to buy it, but i just want to pick some brains before i go through with it since i cant look at it myself.

This is the car i own now.

And here is its condition today

I'm not a fan of the stripes but that's just me.

If you're willing to drive an MT then definitely keep looking for one. You'll have more fun in it, and you'll get more power out of it. Ultimately the MT will be easier and cheaper to maintain and troubleshoot when compared to the AT since there's more direct control of the engine. I'd skip out on this one, the AT makes the problems harder to diagnose.

The passenger side only rear fender vent is also suspect. I didn't think the 04 AT models had a VFAD either...

Those pictures were right after I bought it. I've removed the stripes and tore down the car to clean every inch of it. I noticed on a carfax report it had been in a collision with a guard rail and I looked for that when I was buying, but didn't see anything wrong with it... until I took the bumpers off that were held on by drywall screws covered by bondo.

That's when I started looking for a parts car and came across the one on top.
