New Guy With a low comp rx8
#26
Just called my (local) dealer about 45 minutes away. The service guy I talked with said he didn't want to say if they could or not as the tech (Troy) I needed to talk with was gone for the day. I guess that is a good thing as he seemed cautious not to promise me anything and said Troy was very familiar with the rotary engine.
Anyone on here have good or bad things to say about Fred Mueller Mazda in Wausau?

Here is a video I made of it running after the seafoam.
It also has a big hesitation around 4,750 rpms under heavier throttle. Kinda like a bad version of vtec cross over.

Stalling could be due to a simple vacuum leak or it could be low compression. There is no way to know by just guessing. The car would have to be properly troubleshooted by a competent individual.

Typical response from this forum, thanks for the heads up. I'll keep searching and reading.

Figuring out how to troubleshoot yourself will help you for many years to come.

Hey man I bought my RX8 last month so I am a new owner as well. I know you mentioned you did the seafoam through it. I was curious what method you used for running it through. I personally put in a full can into my gas tank when I filled it up, which is what I do with all my cars after about 5000 miles or so. It seemed to fix some of my hunting issues but I did throw a CEL within a mile. It threw a P0171 left bank lean code, which cleared away after about 50 miles of driving and has not come back.
But I was trying to decide to do another seafoam run of 8oz but not sure about doing that vacuum line thing they show here where people unplug 3 of the sensors and run it into the 2 vac ports then start it after a while. Otherwise, I have ran seafon directly into the throttle body on a previous car before by taking the intake tube out and slowly pouring it into the throttle body while having someone maintaine some RPMs so it does not stall out. but I have not heard of anyone doing that on their RX8 here. Was that how you did yours or if anyone posting in this thread could say if going through the throttle body is fine or not> I don't want to risk flooding when this car has so many issues.

Damn I just changed me oil last week! Is it recommended however on this particular car to change it after running seafoam or distilled water through those ports? When I ran seafoam directly into the throttle body on another car I did not change the oil after but had no recurring problems after that. By chance do you have to unplug the 3 sensors if I do the distilled water method?

no you do it with the car running after its warmed up. get another person to either put the hose in the water jug or to keep the rpms up

Ran the car at an auto x this last weekend, still stalls. I did raise the premix to 1 oz per gallon. Still trying to find time to get it up to the dealer for a compression test. Running out of other possible solutions. At one point I got the car hot with 50 miles of spirited back road driving it would idle fine, after a short drive to a friends house. I left it run for 30 minutes in disbelief. Spraying vacuum lines with MAF cleaner seems to change nothing.
Contacted Twisted Rotors Technology for a price on a compression tester but they seem to be gone.
The park mazda reman for 2600 is looking like my best bet.

Tried buying the engine from park Mazda order was refunded, I was told to order from my local dealer. So I ended up buying a re-man engine from rotary resurrection. After a fuel injector snafu the new to me engine is running great. I have a video on my youtube channel I will link to my earlier videos so there is some follow up on that. I am also planning on tearing into the original engine.

Had an air bag light on yesterday code 22, wiggled the wires under both seats, now no light. used this thread for reference. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...-codes-164676/

Also had the Power steering stop working this past weekend, cleaned the wires and reset by key on, turning full lock right full lock left and starting engine, my car didn't seem to reset when I would go left first. This is the thread I used to do the power steering https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...g-pics-223713/
