New Lightning Yellow
Hey Guys, I just bought a 2004 lightning yellow. I am 20 years old from San Diego. i believe it is a grand touring as it has leather seats, one of them is electric, bose speakers, 6 speed, no sat nav. Is there any way to know if it is a grand touring?
I bought the car 140,000 miles, and engine problems. It doesn't start hot and has a few odd noises. Did a compression test and it was low, so rather than rebuild that old engine I am swapping it. A friend of mine is swapping his rx8s engine with a non rx8 engine so I am buying his engine and using that. It only has 30,--- Miles and I know its been looked after.
Ive taken my car apart already and plan to post pictures soon. Engine is out and new one should be in this weekend. Hopefully after the engine is in the car is ready to go
The car came with Motegi MR121 wheels, I know they do not have a good reputation but is that something that should concern me if i plan on doing a few autocross events per year?
thanks !

anyone here?
Last few days I did a lot of cleaning up with the car. Everything appears to be in great condition just needs a bit of love as it had been sitting for a while. Did some little things like painting the calipers and a few more DIY things. Engine is now out and we are swapping everything onto the new one now and hopefully we have it running by the weekend.

Welcome Jorge.
Be sure to read the new owner stickies thoroughly, most anything you need to know is there.
I also have an '04 LY GT.
Powered leather seat means it's a GT.
Mine is fully loaded with the nav & appearance package.
I bought it 2 years ago with 18.5k miles, around 38k now.
Too bad about your engine, good luck with your new one.

So just to update, the car is up and running, havnt had a chance to drive it too much yet but there is a few things i need to fix first. (by the way ive done lots of hours of searching trying to find answers)
The check engine light is on for P2004, From what Ive read its the APV valve not closing all the way so I am trying some of the trouble shooting i have found on the forum, like getting trying to get it to clear on its own. im open to advice...
Does anyone know if the only way to reach the valve/remove it is to remove the engine?
Another thing is a small coolant leak somewhere, I will to a pressure check and see where its coming from.
Hopefully after clearing these things the car will be trouble free

Bump, anyone know if theres a way to reach or move or remove or anything to the APV valve without removing the engine? My local mechanic wants to charge 550 to fix it because he has to remove the engine...
