I have been reading posts here for almost a month now and I learnt a lot. 2 weeks ago, I got my dreamed Rotary car! Here goes some pictures!

Thank you Rozzall! He took really good care of this car! I am very satisfied with this purchase. Interior in very good condition!
The compression is in the OK range, will do a compression test again before the warranty ends.

The four shocks need to be replaced. New bilstein B6 just arrived! Will go to a garage and get it fixed!

I bought mine not too long ago an had to replace the fronts and decided to save myself the money an do it myself not too big of a pain. Nice 8 white has always been my favorite color for cars so clean

Congrats on your buy. Yeah I thought about doing it myself. But I need to change 4, plus I have no prier mechanical knowledge. I don't think it worth the time and risk that I might do something wrong.

But I do have a plan for the car. When it is being fixed by the mechanics, I will stand by and help, so I can learn some stuff and hopefully I can do it myself next time.

Good idea getting to know stuff about your car is always fun an being able to do the work on it yourself makes you feel accomplished. I'm not a mechanic by any means I'm only 21 but can follow instructions the diys on this site help a lot an local auto stores let you rent tools like a spring compressor

Great pics with great write up. Everything seems doable to me, so I give it a shot in the parking garage of my apartment.

Started up with lying tools and parts on the ground!

Jacked up the car.

Took off the wheels.

Got stuck on
"With the top caliper bolt removed, Now start to push ur caliper towards the front of your car like this"

No matter how hard I pushed it, the caliper would not move. I tried to unscrew the bottom bolt but the brake line(or some other line) is in my way. Wouldn't fit my socket wrench on that bolt. I really wanted to come upstairs and search for solutions but I couldn't leave my stuff in the garage cause it's for all residents.(how I wish I have my own garage) Anyway I end up putting things back together.



Lesson learnt: nothing is easy.

After viewing a Youtube video, I found the "key": Screw driver! and I want to thank Newton too.


Great video by Chrisfix. So last night I finally get my brake pads replaced! Test-drive on highway no problem! Feeling awesome right now.

Here is a photo of my old brake pads. Both inner pads are much thinner than the outer pads. Is this normal?

Have yet to do RX8 discs but they are most likely like others in that the bolts that hold the caliper to its mount are actually sliders that the caliper moves along as hydraulic pressure is applied. If they are corroded or their sleeves dirty, they can hang up a bit causing the caliper to stick. This causes extra wear on the pads on the side where the sticking is happening, in this case, the inners which tells me you should pull the guide bolts one more time and clean out the sleeves and their rubber seals and remove any corrosion from the guide blots themselves. That should remedy the sticking calipers and excess wear on the inner pads.

Thank you very much for that info! I really appreciate it. I did clean the top bolts that I took out and put new grease on them. Should I do the same with the bottom bolts as well?

Thank you! I like the white too! I have seen an awesome looking white 8 when I visit Cali. You guys get nice cars there! I wish I can know more people who is also in Seattle on this threads.

Get a good light under there and have a look at the caliper. It should be pretty obvious where the movement occurs. Clean and lube any bolts and sleeves that appear to apply as well as any points at which the caliper contacts the framework supporting it.

Just installed the bilstein B6 shocks, and the drive is much smoother now. Next thing to do will be change fluids, which will happen within two weeks.
