I'm a new member but I'm not new to this forum. Been browsing through posts on here without an account since 2013 when I bought my first RX-8 (2005 Shinka w/ 30k miles). When my first RX-8 was totaled after it floated down the street in a flash flood a few months into ownership, I never made an account. Now I am the new owner of a 2004 base model RX-8 in grey and as my username suggests, I yanked the **** right out of it. Currently in the back half of an LS swap. Everything for the swap is in the garage and with our regions race season essentially canceled as our home course is being repaved, I'll be spending the better part of this summer completing the swap so that it's at least drivable by Spring 2023. The quick and dirty of the build list is:
L33 gen 3, 5.3L all aluminum LSx Motor with upgraded internals, CNC ported heads, and a streetable cam
Holley Dominator standalone ECU w/ Holley LS swap wire harness
T-56 transmission from a 4th gen Camero
Ford 8.8 IRS rear end with 4.10:1 gears and a Ford Performance Torsen LSD
V8R full swap kit
If everything goes well, the car will hopefully be driving, just not trackable, by the end of the year. The overall build is for a dedicated track (road-course) car with the intention of participating in 1-Lap of America. All the parts are there to make a fun track car and I look forward to participating in this forum instead of just lurking in the shadows like I have for years. Thanks for all the great information over the years, I hope to be able to contribute in my own way to help grow the group. Thanks.
