TN New Member I have a question about Mazda

Hello. I am hoping someone who knows for sure can help me... My daughter has a 2007 mazda 6i 2.3 engine... Manual Transmission... it is picking up a trouble code p0850 which is the neutral safety switch... I thought a Manual transmission did not have a Neutral Saftety Switch on it? I contacted a mazda dealership and the guy that replied back to me said it did. There sure is not one under the shift cables that connect to the transmission. He said it was on the transmission though. I first thought it was a clutch switch giving this code even though that trouble code does not say clutch switch.... My daughter has not been up lately for me to check it. But it sure is confusing when I was told it had one on the transmission when I have never heard of one being on a Manual Transmission. Any thoughts would sure be appreicated from anyone that knows for sure. Thanks.

This isn't the best place to ask for help with a 6, as this forum is RX-8 specific. I was able to find a thread (https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...-input-245252/) which indicates that the primary solution is to replace the switch, though I have no idea if that applies to automatics as well.

The people at mazda6club.com can probably help you more than most people here can. For instance, here's a thread about your issue on the 6 forums (though it is also concerning a car with a manual transmission): P0850 Code High Idle - Mazda 6 Forums : Mazda 6 Forum / Mazda Atenza Forum.

Witness7, this isn't a good forum for you to be looking for help on, as it isn't a generic Mazda forum. It is specific to the nichy quirky unique RX-8. Please see C Del's links for a more appropriate forum.
