New member intro. New to Rx-8's

Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself as a new member here and the new owner of my very first Rx-8. I have been AutoX'ing my Turbo Miata for the last few years and recently started going to track days (still a novice on track).

I have some plans for the Miata upgrades for next season but while researching stronger trans and NA engine options for the Miata somehow I ended up reading a bunch of stuff on how great the Rx-8's chassis and handling are and how more and more swap options are coming up with chassis turning up for very cheap with a blown engine.

Long story short I started to obsess about an Rx-8 with an LFX swap from Keisler for a turn-key track car and started looking at rx-8's with a blown engine. It took only a few weeks of searching before I got one. it's a 40th anniversary that i picked up from a salvage auction for a very cheap price. The car is partially stripped (engine, engine harness, air box, battery tray, and some other misc items are missing) plus it seems that the shop where the car was stored was on fire at some point as the whole car smells like burned plastic and there is black soot everywhere. There is however no evidence of anything physically burned or melted on the actual car so i guess that is good.

Plans, for now, is to clean the car and try to get rid of all the toxic burned plastic smell and then plan everything for the Keisler LFX swap while collecting other parts (safety ect. ) The car will need to be double purpose since I don't have a tow vehicle and need to be able to get to the track and autox on wheels.

I will add some pictures once I figure out how to do that. I have no idea who the previous owner of the car was but I know it was in North Carolina before it was totaled by the insurance comp. Maybe someone will recognize the car?

I have been reading the forum a lot for the last week or so and I can tell there is a wealth of knowledge here and i am excited to lern as much as i can about the new to me platform.

This is how the car looked at the insurance auction. I had no idea what at all was wrong with it and what parts were missing so I set my bid limit low and risked buying it sight unseen with only pictures as a guide. After I got the car delivered it turned out to be better than expected for the price.

The car has BC coil-overs that look pretty fresh. Selling those should help offset the cost of a more adequate suspension setup. It also has generic wheels with very decent tires and an APR wing that has the clear coat peeling badly. I will most likely end up selling this wings for a 9Lives big **** at some point.

As mentioned before the engine along with the engine harness and other items in the front is missing but after talking to Andrew Keisler it seems that most of what i will need for the swap is still there .... so less work pulling all that stuff out :-)

hey Slawekn1, welcome to the club.
Looks like you've got yourself quite the project car there. Can't say we've seen too many LFX swaps so I'm curious to see your progress.

once you get a build thread going, we can move that to the Engine swap subforum.
