New member, original owner '04 6-speed
Hi all. Name's Nate. New member here but my dad's owned an 8 new since I was 4 years old. He might be a member here but I'm not sure, I have seen him browsing the forums throughout the years. I'm 17 now and it's pretty much my daily. It's an '04 Sunlight Silver, red on black interior with GT package. 75k and counting. No mods as of now besides some 15mm GarageLine spacers and a magnetic slap-on Wakaba mark that I bought in Japan for like 60 en.
Dad bought an original turbo six-speed '93 Supra last year that we've both been working on ever since. Got it running back in March making 600 something WHP on 91 octane, but it went back under the knife in July for a full built motor and ethanol conversion. Car will probably stay down for a while.
Just bought some 19x9.5"+22/19x8.5"+22 Varianza T1S for the 8 but don't have any coilovers yet to compliment them. The most I want to do mods wise if I have the cash is of course wheels/coilovers, freshen up the engine bay, an exhaust, and an FD gearbox with 5-speed bell and tail housing (4th syncro bit the dust in the six speed).
Some of my favorite memories with her so far
My friend who I bought the wheels from did a render of what my Varianzas should look like once I get the 2" drop from the coilovers. Thanks @hunter_thep.

If you haven't gone ahead and replaced the OEM coils, that's something I'd get on to first. At this age/mileage, they're usually ready to go if not haven't gone already. Will be interesting to see the gearbox mod, I've gotta consider that in the next few years if I'm careful with mine. As far as "Drop" goes each to their own, but you may want to consider that putting it on it's face might mess with suspension trajectories. IIRC, the rear end of these cars is at least an inch higher than the front if memory serves. You do you, nice to see a family owned 8 staying in the family to continue the Dorito nonsense. IDK the weight of the wheels, but if you plan on handling then going for light weight and wide is gonna be your best bet, those look a little heavy. Nothing wrong with stock size but a larger width. Bigger contact patches can do wonders in these cars.

I actually do have some coils from a JDM Spirit-R that I installed about 5-6k miles ago. I want to upgrade further to Okada Products or LQ9 kit, but it'll just be wherever the deal is at.
Stance wise, I want something that will compliment the wheels, and I am adamant about maintaining handling and ride quality like you said... I won't stop until it's perfect.
The Work wheels I bought are welded two-piece with forged barrels and flow-formed spokes. I haven't tested the weight on a scale, but the stocks and the Works both feel similar in weight. Way lighter than these 18" gravity cast spares I have laying around, anyways. Track width is greatly improved, too, glad to hear that that helps. Wheels sit out 28mm farther than stock, and the widths are +0.5" front and +1.5" rear over stock.
