Hi, this is Thomas from the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
In mid June of 2014 I got my 2005 Shinka RX8. I got the car for a whopping $800.(Interesting Story if anyone is interested.) Only mods to the car that I know of are a K&N typhoon intake and gutted catalytic converter. I love the rotary and look forward to a great membership.

Ok so here goes it..
The car belonged to a Dr. of some sorts and one day while driving it started smoking on the inside. He believed it to be an electrical problem so he parked it, disconnected the battery, and went out and bought a new car. Eventually he has the car towed to an auto electric shop and they tell him that they will have to pull out all the interior to figure out the problem so he tells the shop to just get rid of it and give him the money.
SO! My girlfriend (at the time) mentions that her dad knows the owner of the auto electric shop and he has an RX8 that they are selling for $800. Her dad said that the car ran and drove but had electrical problems and no battery but I immediately jumped on the deal anyways. I pulled the interior and discovered the wires for the seat heater on the passenger side were all melted together so I cut out the burnt section of the wire and replaced it with new wire So after purchasing a battery I finally got the car running but it ran like it was full of rocks lol. So I took it for a test drive around the block and got about a 1/4 mile and the interior began smoking. Thinking the wiring had shorted again, I quickly headed back to the house, jumped out and cut the carpet open in desperation to get to the wires quickly and discovered they were not melted but the carpet on the passenger side footwell was smoldering. So I look under the car and see the CAT right under where the hot spot is. So the next day I pulled the CAT and it was blown apart and turned sideways. I assumed that was caused by bad ignition so I replaced coils, plugs, and wires and haven't had a problem since.
