$5500 tops. But that's assuming:
Perfect interior / exterior paint
Good/Excellent Compression
No Accidents
Full and current service history
It varies wildly depending on engine health. If the engine is dead, then the same car would be barely $2200. Get a compression test.

There are book values that try to put hard numbers on them. That may be what you are looking for, and can find them there.
I think it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Well, they were never big sellers to begin with, they're out of production, and Consumer Reports has branded them as a used car to avoid. That tends to reduce their value.
The best way to get a nominal value is to go to kbb or edmunds and go through their price calculator.

I apologize for not being clearer. Kbb says its worth 7800 and in my CA area people are asking 9k for double the mileage. It is stock with no extras at all; no moon roof, not leather. It is in PERFECT garage excellent condition all around inside, outside, and mechanical. 47000 miles seems extremely low for an 05 and it shows no wear at all. I'm just curious as to how well I came out with this deal.

Yeah I see all kinds of crazy asking prices for RX-8's around here too. But individual and dealers rarely get what they are asking unless the buyer is retarded (fairly common). Around here you can get a 2009 RX-8 with under 10k on it for $16,000.00ish.

And I really owe you an apology (belated though it be) for jumping on you back then. I've stopped worrying about what my 8 is worth. I've gone back to my original attitude when I bought it - second childhood car, if the whole thing is a write-off I knew what I was getting into.
