New Owner, failed emissions..more....

Hi guys. Need some advice
I have an 04, auto. Runs great, when I bought it a little over a month ago, the compression test was fine (starting to wonder if I was fooled)
Anyway, the car runs great, starts right up, no loss of power. Sometimes will idle a little rough, but not much. A CEL cam on and the code p0410. I went to get the car emission tested and it failed due to the code. The car has been burning alot of gas.
Before I pay some exorbitant amount of money to a mechanic who doesnt know rotories (can't find any rx8 guys in nyc).. is there any ideas what this may be? Or how I can best move forward. I have some mechanical experience, but limited tools/space.

Thanks!

That's for the secondary air injection. It's possible the previous owner removed the air pump, or it has failed.

What a cool website. Thanx for that, I get a feeling its going to be a lifesaver going forward.
Definitely looks within my skill set. Anything I should know? I found the part for 200.
Since I'm going to be under the hood, anything else I should tackle while there?

Found a video that shows the process, def something I can do.
Should I just change out the pump, or are there some other things I should check first?

I think that error means the pump is bad, or not there.

Also, look through the Congrats thread in my sig. There are a lot of little things that can be done that help in an older one.

Welcome.
