New owner here, have a few questions

About a week or two ago I posted about possibly purchasing a 8, well after doing some serious reading thru this forum, weighing the pros and cons of the car, and a bit of price haggling, last weekend I decided to buy it.

First off I know this car isn't perfect but considering the market in my area, what I was willing to pay for a car, and the overall condition the car "seems" to be in, its probably the best I'll ever do. I am also treating this as a "project" car. While I'm no master mechanic I'm using this car as something to slowly learn and work on.

So now that's out of the way, on to the good stuff! The 8 is a 2004 Touring MT with just over 100K on the odometer. As far as I'm aware it has the original engine. I do not have compression test numbers yet. I have a test scheduled at a local Mazda dealer. To my untrained RX8 driver's senses everything seems good. Car has lots power once it gets to 5-6k in the rev range and continues to pull fine the whole way to the redline. Starts fine whether its cold or hot. Overall just lots of fun to drive.

The questions I have are related to some readings that I'm getting from the OBD2 port. I bought a cheap-ish bluetooth adapter and have the Torque app on my phone. I noticed one sensor reading that seemed alarming and I'm just looking for some feedback if anyone knows what it is.

There is a sensor that Torque Identifies as "Catalyst Temperature (Bank 1, Sensor 1)"

Here is a screenshot immediately after starting the car

Here is one after its been idling for a few minutes

I would say those temps are normal , for a rx8 cat . Is it gutted? And where do you live ? If you live in a really cold weather it should be lover than that.

Numbers look reasonable to me. Maybe a touch low. My green one used to run 1800 F, but that one was questionable. The blue one was around 1600, and my "race" one is around 1500F.
