New owner from Northern NV saying hello
Hello .
New to RX8s, not new to rotaries (I've owned several RX7s in the past). I've been looking for a while as I really wanted a late S1 (mostly for budgetary reasons as it's my track/autocross car) and most of what I could find either came pre-bent or were 04s on their third engine.
Anyway, here it is - 06 Shinka, 122k on the clock on the original engine according to the previous owner who has owner the car since it had less than 10k on the clock:
2006 RX8 Shinka
Pre-purchase compression test (I've owned enough rotaries to not buy one without a successful compression test) came back in the high sevens, low eights unnormalized. Quick mental arithmetic suggest they're all above or well above 7.5 normalized.
What does it need? Brakes are first thing on the list, the fronts are pretty worn, disks are below the wear limit. So that'll be new pads and rotors all the way around, plus braided stainless lines.
Other than that, fresh fluids all around, new thermostat and most likely an uprated radiator as tracking a car in the dry heat out here is really hard on the cooling system.
