New Owner saying hi
Hi everyone, just wanted to say hello. After months of reading through the stickies here and doing my research, I jumped on this 2009 R3 I found for a steal. Has the 5th gear synchro issue but besides that it's a one owner car that was well taken care of. Looking forward to being part of the RX8 community.

What G said. There's a very helpful sticky thread of what to do on the top of the newbie forum now that you've bought one. Basically, there's a lot of work involved in the first few months of ownership but it's all worth it as long as the engine has healthy compression #'s.
Top of the list - Engine Compression with a ROTARY SPECIFIC COMPRESSION TEST. Not all tests are the same, rotaries require special tools. Tertiary on the list is new plugs, wires, and coils if they haven't been replaced yet. R3's being S2's should have Revision C coils, which have an untested but as so far lifespan of at least 30k+ from my limited reading (I have an S1, so I'm mired mainly in those particulars.) But, you can always be safe and do it anyway. Beyond that, welcome to the Club. The RX8 Club.

Damn sorry for the late reply. I'm in the Houston area. It is a 1 owner car, other than me, that was dealer maintained and it has the original engine with 89K miles that surprisingly idles smooth and runs great. I have no compression numbers yet as this is not my daily so i'm not too worried about it for now, but i'm sure they're on the mid to low side. I'll update when I get them at some point next week.
I owned an FC RX7 a few years ago that I loved and lost( was stolen and stripped) and yes, I've been reading through as many sticky threads as possible when I can.
Already running premix in it, coils are ordered, and I'm gonna clean grounds and change the Transmission/Diff fluid hopefully this weekend if the weather cooperates. Also need to try to clean the OMP lines.

Sounds like you have a good plan laid out. Do you have any of the service records throughout the car's life? I bet the compression numbers are good as the oil injection system in the S2's is pretty decent. Do you have any other pics of the car to share?
