Well hello there I'm ash, from Derby (UK)
I Wanted an rx8 from the day I passed my test but due to high insurance I was forced to wait a few years. Anyway 3 months ago I came across the car of my dreams for only a grand. I had to buy it. 2004 plate full service history and ran perfectly as far as I know. Apart from it doing less than 20 miles for a tenner I love it. I suppose that's the price u Pay for the privilege of driving one.
Just fitted myself a universal central locking, alarm and remote starter system which was a challenge within itself as there's little out on the net for fitting them so it's been a solo mission.
Anyway nice to meet all you fellow owners.

Welcome.
Glad to see you here. As a fellow 2004 owner, I can recommend the Congrats thread in my signature. If you pulled off the alarm install, all of things in there should be easy....
And, a favor, if you have spoiler on the car, not the one that is raised up, I would really appreciate a picture....
Thanks,

Approximately 4 liters to a gallon so your getting 16 MPG if your doing all city driving than that's just about right ( might be 2 or 3 MPG lower than normal). It's not low enough I'd think you have compression problems but new coils, wires, and plugs could really help. On the other hand if your doing all highway your a little off the normal but still I'd suspect you need new ignition system. I average 20 MPG that's 5 miles per liter so like I said your not much off the normal.

I have improved the mpg aloe just by cleaning may and all air intake hoses as I removed and there was oil sludge inside. Obviously previous owner over filled oil. Much smoother running now. Also rear pipes had snapped causing a blow but that's been welded up. Also had a mid joint exhaust bolt missing, replaced and it now humms nicely. Only real issue with the car is in think the clutch is slipping but mainly from 1st to 2nd gear shift.
Service book all stamped in the right places however I'm not convinced it's ever had a real oil and filter change. I done a change yesterday old oil came out totally black so flushed through 5 litres of fresh oil and then re filled.
So much info on this website its amazing
