The installation instructions for those skirts call for drilling several holes along the rocker based on a template that comes with them. So no the holes aren't on the car now, but with the right template you would need to make them regardless of the series.
Or you could count on double sided trim tape. That stuff is strong if you have a clean surface.
The Series 2 R3 factory ones, maybe you’re referring to the Mazdaspeed?
I get there may be some holes to drill and need for some 2-sided 3M tape, but the implication of his post seems to be that the rocker panel clip holes on the S1 may be different than the S2. Otherwise I understand about the rest of all that.

Hello again, trying out some new springs, still working on the balance of the car, the ride and handling.
with these springs it should raise the ride height about 20mm.
surprised they’d be different, have a pair but haven’t gotten to trying to put them on yet.
Is it just at the ends or all the clips down they length of the rocker panel too?
.
The length of the rocker has corresponding holes for the side skirt like most cars. I didn't know it either until I noticed an odd gap on my driver side skirt and noticed one of the clips had broken and wasn't holding well enough.
I'd say there's about 8-10 maybe also 4-6 larger grommet style plugs that go on the bottom of the side skirt, upward into the rocker.

I didn't mean to hijack the OP but since a few have asked this is what I've found. The R3 skirts align with the body clip holes for the OEM aero in the front and rear wheel wells. They also clip in all along the bottom. So you can make sure they are fastened in pretty well. But like others have mentioned the problem is along the length of the rocker/body itself. Having no current side skirt aero myself, I have no clip holes on the rocker, which is the main reason I haven't installed these yet. Trying to find a way to keep this part snug to the rocker/body without having to drill clip holes if possible. There just isn't a lot for 3M to grip here.
The clips that are supposed to go in the holes, do they have a nice wide base that you can 3M where the holes would go? Just cut off the part that would go into the hole.
They're about 1/2-3/4 wide so you could get a decent size tab of tape on them maybe. Only issue I could wonder about is thickness of the tape. Meaning of the surface of the tabs meets close enough to the body with the 1/8 maybe thickness of the double sided tape.
Hi guys and girls,
when i said rise the ride height it was already at 60mm lower and it was on the bump stops.
So i raised the ride height by 20mm, to see if i would bottom out less.
And to get some confit back.
Hello again guys and girls,
It been some time since I last posted, I've been saving for parts for my next job on the RX8
it is suspension work for daily driver. It will be next year before I can post photos, as I don't have all of the
parts I want to fit.
As for the last mod (rotor shaped oil filler cap) requires a lot of work to make it work, so it back in the draw
and stock oil filler cap has been refitted for the time being.
After I finish the suspension work, the next job will be a stereo upgrade.
this is something I'll enjoy doing.
How many subs or not should I install?
or what should stay stock. I'm up for suggestions
Thanks for reading and
hope to see a suggestion on audio upgrade.
