New to rotaries, not Mazdas
Hello my name is Mike and I am the proud new owner of a very healthy 2009 series 2 RX8. I bought this as a replacement for my 1993 that was a completely track dedicated car and competed in Global Time Attack in the Limited RWD car. While I like the car, it was going to require some major changes to become truly competitive in the class because I couldnt get any higher than the bottom of the podium. Plus it sucked that couldn't drive it on the street either.
I bought this car with the intent to drive a few days a week and compete in Global Time Attack Enthusiast RWD, a lower class for street driven cars with mild mods. For now I'm just gonna set it up to extract as much mechanical grip out of the car as possible, I've already ordered KW Variant 3s, and will be running G-Loc R8 pads, stainless lines, and a good brake fluid. I'm probably just gonna switch out the control arm bushings to poly while im down there as well. 18x9.5 Enkei NT03s with 255/40/18 Federal 595s, because the class requires a 220+ TW tire. Other than that, mainly just looking to try and make the car as reliable as possible.

Leave the bushings alone...there is nothing to be gained by changing them to urethane except a lot of headaches. The OEM ones are not you usual crappy soft rubber anyway...they are much better engineered than that
Get an alignment and the best tires you can.....and play with the KW's and the sways to get it to handle the way you want

While I would like to get some RE71Rs or something like that, that would bump me up to Street class. The best tire for Enthusiast class is the Achilles 123s but I chose to go with the Federal 595 because there is a contingency program with GTA.

Hey Mike!
I sure liked how you had your NA set-up! I'm on the same camp as you as far as jumping from NA to S2 Rx8- i just put money down on a 2010 model.
Nice job snagging some Penske dampers! I look forward to seeing you develop your new car, man!
