New RX-8 owner!

i just bought an 04 rx8. I'm super excited, love the forum! i can't wait to learn more about the car.

Read this first, if you haven't already, and get a rotary engine compression test ASAP to determine the true health of your engine. Sadly we here see many excited folks buying up used 04 RXs without getting an engine compression test BEFORE purchase and then facing the huge costs of replacing failing engines. Not to say that will be your fate, we just want you to have the car of your dreams and not a nightmare . There can be many issues with a 04, especially if it has high original mileage. You need to find out if the car has its original engine, or has had a reman or replaced engine. Find out the health of that engine and other key areas like ignition , cat, electrical, suspension, exhaust, belts, cooling system.

What he said PLUS, for the service info, talk nicely to the service people at your local Mazda dealer and they should be able to tell you from your VIN what warranty and recall service has been done on the car.

I'm having a little problem with the car that i can not figure out the answer to. a stage 3 clutch was put in. i bleeder the lines and it seems to have worked fine. When the car is cold the clutch pedal feels good. as soon as the car is warmed up the clutch pedal drops to the floor and is completely useless. i tried adjusting the pedal and i have tried bleeding the brakes several times. Does anyone have an idea on what the problem could be?

Where did you buy it from and did you get any sort of returns or warranty on it? While I don't know the cause of it I can at least say it doesn't sound good at all.

First things first. Who installed the clutch assy? How long ago was it done? If done by a transmission shop or other "professional" you might want to see if there is any warranty on the labor. It is quite possible that the clutch slave cylinder is leaking either outright or bypassing internally due to old/damaged/worn seals. I would start looking there for the cause of your issue.

Problem solved! After a couple days of bleeding out every line and fitting in the hydraulic system I finally bit the bullet and replaced both the slave and clutch master and it now works like a champ. Odds are, the slave was the culprit but it's really recommended to replace both at the same time and actually sold in sets in many cases so thats what we did. Thank you all for your time and tips!
