OK bro,
Try searching "NGK wires firing order"

So I replaced the coil on cylinder 1. Do I have to redo the timing the timing?
Also do I have to clear codes after the coil was replaced to keep the cel from flashing?

No and no.

You should do all 4. They should be replaced about every 30k.

For the firing order on the spark plug wires 2-1-2-1 do the 1's represent cylinder 1 and vice versa for 2? Just trying to figure that part out for my personal knowledge. And yes I have already looked at all the diagrams. I'm just trying to get use to which cylinders ate which on the rotary engine.

*Also update I replaced spark plugs and wires and 1 coil. Other 3 are enroute*

Hey Jay, it's pretty easy to figure out.
I would suggest you do some more reading of the new owner stickies and search the DIY stickies.

#1 rotor is toward the front.
#2 is toward the firewall.

T= Trailing (Top)
L=Leading (Lower)

Number coils front to back;
#1=L1
#2=T1
#3=L2
#4=T2

I don't know a simpler way to explain it.

I'm picking up my spoon now

Good job getting all 4 coils BTW.
Good luck!

So here's an update. I am 827 miles in on the new engine. I will be in first gear and will slowly speed up and I will be at about 4.5 to 5k rpms and the cel will flash for about 15 seconds...... just wondering how would it do this.. it is not wires plugs nor coils. And of isn't the cat. I did everything it said to do in the stickies......

Hi Jay,
I only offer advice about things I have personal experience with, so I'll try to help with this limitation in mind.

Usually, from what I understand, a flashing CEL means misfires.

Let's recap; let me know if any of this is not right.

You did all 4 coils, plugs, & wires.
You cleaned the ESS & MAF sensors, and did the 20 pedal stomp.
OK so far?

Did you get an OBD scan to check for stored code messages?

How do you know the cat is not bad?

If it definitely is OK, then someone more knowledgeable than I will have to help you, because I replaced my cat with a midpipe and my ignition components after getting a code for cat below threshold, and one for misfires.

Anything else, I don't know.
Thanks for the update, and good luck!
