New RX-8 Owner on MON New Member Today!
Hello everyone!
I just bought my RX-8 as of monday! I just joined. First experience with a Rotary engine so any insight is good I have looked up several things and everything points here. I bought an 08 RX-8, 6 speed, just rounded 47k. I don't know what trim level I have but my vin starts off... JM1FE...X........ Any clue as to what trim comes with that or if i can tell by that? I am super excited about owning a RX-8 and all I can think about is getting out and driving my car. Look forward to any feedback and discussions hope to post some pics soon, got some rain here in OH, so she is a little dirty.
Thanks/Later,
VanMeter!

"JM1" means it was manufacturered in Japan
"FE" means it is an RX-8.
So no, we can't tell![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Most trim information is not in the vin anyway, it would be easier to describe what features you have in the car interior, since that usually gives us the information needed.
As for everything else... start with this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/

Yup, that is a Sport trim. Gratz, it's the lightest the RX-8 can be (without missing all the performance upgrades like bigger brakes, carbon driveshaft, better shocks/springs/sways)

Sounds good, I haven't got on it yet, I have owned other RWD cars before but all piston and crank motors. I am a little hesitant since this car doesn't feel like they did. It seems like the power doesn't stop. The more gas I give it the more she wants. LOL. I am waiting on a nice dry day to she what she has.

This car will suprise you. Just when you think ok i need to let off...Wrong mentality. This is a rotary. Not piston. When u give this gem a little, she wants A lot. Give er what she needs. Run that redline...

Yeah, don't be scared of the redline. If you haven't heard the beep, keep going till you do. I've ridden in my 8 with a couple of different friends driving it that had piston cars, and I had to keep egging them onward and upward in the revs till they finally "got it". ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The power band is 4k to 8.5k, and you can use from 3k to 9k easily. Pick any speed you want, and there should be 3 or 4 different gears that are entirely viable for that speed. Redline is for the transmission (fluid boiling) more than it is for the engine. The engine just spins happily.
