New rx8 owner saying hi!
Hi all!! Just my my new 8 a few days ago after prowling these pages for a good two months! Now that im finally a proud owner of one of my favorite cars ever i wanted to introduce myself.
About me - Originally from NYC but i live in north NJ now. Not my first rotary (first car was a turbo II. I like sharp cheddar cheese. And i hope to learn and contribute to this awesome community.
About the car - I purchased an 04 black 6 speed RX8 a few days ago and I LOVE IT! The car has about 85k miles on it and about 5k miles on a brand new engine that was put in by mazda back in February. (pics of the car coming soon i want to wash and wax it first i swear!) lol
The car also came with a TON of aftermarket stuff and im going to list everything i can remember for you guys:
Mazdaspeed (i think its a knockoff) body kit
Carbon Fiber vented hood painted to match the car
Borla Catback Exhaust
BHR Catless Midpipe
AEM intake
BHR Ignition system
Foose 20" Wheels and tires
Oil Catchcan installed
Axial Flow shifter
Guage pod on the top dash with Prosport Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, and Collant Temp guages. But they havent been hooked up yet
Cobb Accessport tuned by Mazda Maniac on a 7th tune
Stuff I also got with the car that isnt installed yet:
Mazdaspeed coilovers for the front (rear didnt have a wheel gap issue so he traded for them for something)
Racing beat oil sandwich adapter
Racing Beat Collant temp adapter
SOHN adapter (this will be my first install along with the sandwich and coolant adapters when i do the oil this week)
It also came with all the OEM stuff that i will be listing for sale soon including: Intake and piping, exhaust WITH cat, hood, OEM wheels with tires (i think i'll keep these to put snow tires on for the winter) and a few other things that i cant remember.
Future plans for the car include a different wheel and tire setup (i think 20's are a bit much and im always more interested in performance then looks so I was thinking of an 18/19 staggered setup with some rays/volk/gramlight wheels. An agency power underdriven crank pulley and greddy pully set. Lighter flywheel and an exedy stage 2 clutch. Upgrade the starter (though it might already be done when the new engine was put in) A big break kit. A bunch of the AutoEXE bracing stuff cause it looks awesome. and finally if i can find them i would LOVE the R3 seats
Down the road (like next spring) im really thinking FI with an SFR turbo kit with all the supporting mods (fuel, cooling, greddy oilpan etc) I'm not looking for HUGE gains but i would like to get in the 280-300 whp range since I am used to driving an evo and i LOVED boost on my old rotary.
Thanks all! See you soon!
