North Carolina Rx8
Hey everybody! I'm new to the site because I just bought an Rx8 a couple weeks ago. I've been doing some basic maintenance to the vehicle and was wondering if you guys had any suggestion on what else I should need to do.
Here's a list of everything that I've done so far:
New alternator
New spark plugs
New wires
New coils
New belts
I also have on the way a new Walker Cat converter on the way with gaskets. I have to run another OBDII scan and check what codes I have still but these were some before I did any changes to the vehicle.
P0125
P0456
P2112
Car is: 2004 Mazda Rx8 GT with 86k miles on it.
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if a Walker cat will last in the RX-8 exhaust. I would personally only use it for emission tests. I would look for a good used OEM unit for sale.
As for your codes:
P0125 says your coolant temp is too low. Does your car actually get warm(put your hands on the coolant overflow bottle to find out)? If so, your ECT sensor is busted. If the car doesn't warm up, I would check the thermostat.
P0456 is small EVAP leak. You could see if a new gas cap fixes it. If not, a good place to start is the purge valve solenoid. IIRC it sits below the upper intake manifold, near where the alternator is.
P2112 is throttle actuator issue, so anything that connects to your gas pedal is suspect. Could be the gas pedal itself, could be the throttle body.

I bought the walker for just that, to use for emissions (if I need to do the sniffer test) and don't expect to run in as a full time option. When I take off my OEM cat I will probably gut it based off of what I've read a clogged cat for rotary engines is even worse than a normal vehicle. So I will run the Walker for a sniffer test and not much more.
I haven't test the coolant tank but the coolant light is also on and I know that could have something to do with the sensor itself? Would that trip the CEL?
I'll look into getting a new gas cap and clear the code to see if it comes back up!
I was thinking the throttle body but I pushed on the valve when I opened it up and it doesn't seem to be stuck in any way so I take that as a good sign that it's not the throttle body? Could be wrong.

Thanks for the quick reply!

And don't push too hard on the throttle body butterfly valve. These things are kinda sensitive and you could damage the motor if you are too rough. I personally never touched the valve physically. Have someone push the gas pedal in the cabin with the ignition on but engine off, and see if you notice anything funny.
