Not Getting Gas
Was driving around and at a light the car stopped getting gas, it was still running and the gas pedal just would not make it go so i had to let it roll, shortly after pulling over it wouldn't start for about 10 mins, then it was getting gas after resetting battery. any idea on what could cause this? hasn't happened before and i've had the car for a couple of days so i know nothing about these, just don't want it to happen again! the rpms were jumping it just would not move when pushing the gas

Yes it is a manual, we did test drive it and it was fine, he mentioned small problems just want to make sure this isn't from anything serious, engine has already been rebuilt and it has 103,000 miles. it restarted after he did something to do with resetting the battery? ( also turning the wheel alot and then pressing brakes 20 times )

The card read 3 codes
P0410 - Secondary Air Injection Circuit Fail
One code for the crankshaft sensor ( have purchased just need to spend 10 mins putting it on to fix the idling rough )
and another random code that's linked to P0410
Car overheated some ( smoke from resivour ) then it started right back up after doing the resets etc.
Car has a cold air intake ( not sure if they installed it wrong to cause p0410 )
No Smoke at all from the exhaust

Let's take a bunch of steps back.
The ESS doesn't really cause poor idling. By all means replace it if you want, but it will need real troubleshooting. You will need to perform the 20-time brake pedal press after the installation if it's a 2004-2008 car. Get OBD data for fuel trims and airflow when the car is warm and idling. What year is the car?
p0410 is the secondary air pump, not the intake. I think that's the least of your problems at the moment, it's only needed to warm up the catalytic converter.
Overheats and steam from reservoir are 2 different things. The reservoir could be cracked, which is a common issue.
If it really overheated (temperature over 230), you'll want to figure out why because these engines are really easy to damage with overheating.
Inability to restart when hot is still a low compression concern, you need a compression test. When you say engine was rebuilt, by whom and how long ago?
Was the ignition and catalytic converter replaced/confirmed good recently or during engine change?
And if it's still revving but not driving in gear, you need a new clutch.
I don't know what resetting the battery means. Turning the wheel is normal procedure after disconnecting the battery and pressing the brake 20 times resets the computer memory, but neither of these are solutions to a hot start problem.

Sounds like a limp mode issue to me...
To check pull the accordion pipe off the intake so you can see the throttle body...
Get someone to push on the gas pedal with the key on... engine off
Does the throttle open fully or just a little bit?
If it's just a little bit.... reset the ECU and check again. It it opens normally then start the car... it will likely work for about 10 sec and then stop reacting normally again
Let us know what it is doing and then.we can try and help you more
