I've been a lurker for a while but wanted to introduce myself. I'm Brett and I have a rotary addiction
I recently acquired two S2 RX8s- one a track prepped R3, the other a base auto for parts. I also have a blue R3 that I've taken to a few track days recently, it's been a blast. Not wanting to beat on that car was my reasoning for getting the track prepped one.
My first RX8 was an 04 base that reached ~165K miles on the original engine. Sadly lost that one to a bear accident back in 2021. I also have had a few RX7s, multiple of all generations.
Here is my current rotary fleet, minus a first gen RX7 not pictured
Wow, that's one way to do a 2000-hp driveway. I'm not sure if I'm impressed or concerned, I think it's both. That's quite a stable, past and present. Welcome aboard!
I've only had 3.
'04 LY # WB GTs and my recent '08 40th Anniversary Edition.
I got the LY in 2012, that's my baby.
I put a new Mazda factory Renesis in it a yr and half ago.
The WB was a convenient opportunity after the engine finally died in the LY, and my least favorite.
Traded it in on my truck.
Dang it Brett. Are you out to win the "He who has all the toys" contest? All of them are beautiful. Do you still have the GSL-SE as well?
P.S. Is this like the Jeff Foxworthy jokes? You might have a rotary problem if ...?
There's a name I recognize! Thank you Kevin, it was so good to finally meet you in person at DGRR after all these years! Hope to see pics of that SA on the road soon
The FB RX7 I have has been dubbed 'FrankenRex' as it's a cobbled together mess. I got it as a stripped down 83 GSL on blocks. I put the running gear from a widebody GSL-SE under it, hence the awful fitment. I have a FC non-turbo 13B to go in it, carbureted with a RacingBeat 6-port manifold, and a shortened turbo FC transmission and custom driveshaft. Just need to find the time to put it all back together!
This is an old pic from when I first got it. Not much has changed, other than it has a stock hood and headlights now.

Great to finally meet you in person too. Meeting people I've been talking to for years, as well as making new acquaintances, is the main reason I go to these events (the cars don't hurt either). I met a lot of fantastic RX8 owners there this time. The SA is my motivation to be trolling these fine people's forum. Mongo need parts ... as always. I didn't realize you had that much of a collection. Jealous I am. The FB should be loads of fun to build, I know mine has been. Cheers.
Another familiar name from the RX7 club Thank you sir!
You're welcome!! I've been on rx7club for more than 20 years. It doesn't feel that long though lol! I love the FB project you have!! The car has a lot of potential! Do you have a build thread on the car on rx7club?

Dude, nice collection! Have any pics of those RX7s to share? Are those FBs tornado silver metallic? That was my favorite color, one of the best to be had on first and second gen RX7s!

It's funny you mention all the RX8 owners there, this year it hit me just how many RX7 guys have gotten into RX8s now... I used to not be a believer, until I drove a friends 04 RX8 and realized I could take curves in it more confidently than my FD. The rest is history... Can't wait to see your progress on the SA!

No build thread yet but once I get some other projects buttoned up, that would be a fun build to document. This shell actually came from the one and only Ray Green from the 7 club!
Ray is a great guy and he's been very helpful over the years to a lot of people on the club. I need to make it down to one of his OGOTA meetings. I'd have to take an RX-8 because two of my boys would definitely want to come. I also have a collection of RX-7's in addition to my RX-8's, but I'm not sure I'd drive them that far. They always run and drive well, so they probably would make the drive but both of my older boys couldn't come.

We could certainly do a special OGTA if you're ever in the area There has been talk of a barn party at Ray's this summer, that would be a fun one to go to. Funny enough, my first ever rotary meet was at Ray's house back in 2007 or 2008. It's a small world in the rotary universe!
Lovely line up. Quite a bit jealous. I have only managed a small fraction of that. Once upon a time I had an 88 and a 91 FC, and now an 06 8 (future track rat).

It's an addiction... I am trying to thin the heard, it's hard to keep up with all of them. I sold one of the FC's a few weeks ago and plan on selling my blue R3 soon after I replace the tired engine.
I did make some progress on the black track 8. Put it on the lift last week to find out which tire had a flat spot. Found a loose front wheel bearing was the true culprit. Swapped that and discovered the front pads were low. Did those then saw the rears were also kinda low, so pads and rotors all around plus a fluid flush. I installed adjustable lower control arms while I was working in the rear, found the sway end links were shot. Still have to order those. Changed the oil. Now aside from some numbers on the side, I think it's track ready!
The car looks great and will be awesome on the track! How long have you owned the car?
Thanks! Just picked this one up back in March. Prior to that I did a few track days in my blue R3, which was giving me the itch to mod that car. Then the stars aligned and this black one popped up for sale locally
