Old Member, New Name & Car

I'm not new to the site, per se, but it has been quite a while since I was on here with an 8. I had my first one in 2009. It was a white 2005, pic below. I sold that car in late 2009 and have been all over the place since then. I went to Japan, where I had an S15 Silvia and a 84 AE86. I even had a 91 Miata in there somewhere. Nothing quite compares to owning a rotary, so here I am. I just picked up a 2004 with 96k miles. I think the color is brilliant black?? It has quite a long list of mods, but most of them are kind of cheap. Racing beat intake/exhaust, Varrstoen wheels, and Megan coil overs. I'm not sure any of that will stay. I had the Greddy exhaust on my 05 and I loved how that sounded.

I'm out in Oahu, Hawaii if anyone else is here on the rock. I see a few 8s from time to time, but several of them have been automatic. But without further rambling…the pics:

Welcome back, i hope you enjoy it as much this time around.

Nice wheels, what size are they?

So the car is at 96K, what is the motor at?

The wheels are 18x9-front and rear. Not sure on the motor. The previous owner didn't have much information on whether or not the engine had been recalled and replaced or not. If I remember from owning the first one, I can call any Mazda dealership with the VIN and find out?

If you call Mazda with your vin they can tell you any recalls or history that was done by them or reported to them.

Did you have a compression test done?
If so, what were the numbers?

Here's a few things you might need to brush up on the 8.

No compression test as of yet. I am running around trying to get my registration and safety inspections complete here in Hawaii. There are some pretty strict laws and the car's safety expires on Monday. I have another daily, so the 8 will be getting a lot of attention before I really drive it. I've definitely been reading as much as I can. It hasn't been so long that I have forgotten everything, but I put a lot of time and energy into learning SR20s over the last 3 years. I was only 22/23 when I owned the other 8 and have learned the importance of educating myself first.
