Other cars compared to RX8 that i have test driven....

E46 330ci ZHP is an honest well balanced coupe. No, it's not perfect at that age but what is.....older cars require attention. If you can deal with the usual issues commonly associated with German cars, it's a good choice and decently cheap. Also don't forget a 128i with the newer and sweet n52 I6 engine. Not as hot as the turbo cousins. A 135i with n55 is quite affordable with great bang for the buck. The 1-ers aren't pretty cars imho.
I've driven the toybaru twins. While they are good humble and fun cars, they are not as sophisticated as the RX8 in the handling dynamics. Didn't have there sublime feeling that for whatever reason the RX8 posseses. Had GC8 2.5RS and WRX in the past. Fun cars with truck like engine. Boxer burble is great. But they hate to be revved. Therefore ringing out the boxer 4 at high rpm is horrible. Totally an uncouth experience.

You bring up the main point or most important thing to me, which is the driving experience.
Sometimes slow car fast is more fun or a better overall experience.
I think for the price the experience of an Rx8 can’t be beat. Someday I would love an e36, but there are higher priorities.

I agree. The slower car experience can be more fun and exhilarating as i found out test driving the cars on my list. The C5's I drove were the next closest driving experience to the RX8. The power was awesome. But as I stated in my original post, the handling was not quite up to 8. Crazy as that sounds. I really thought the Vette was going to blow the 8 out of the water as far as overall driving experience.

This is something I posted in another thread. I'd love to get feedback from anyone who uses ethanol free gas or anyone willing to try it and report back if they notice a difference. I'm sold on it.
I've tried every octane at least 2 back to back tankfuls at a time to verify the response. With 85 (87 octane equivalent at lower altitudes) my car ran better than 91 (our highest octane at 6000 ft elevation).
Then I tried No ethanol gas which was 88 octane. Holy Crap Batman.... My car is running so much better!!!! I would say it is running like new except I dont know what a new 8 drives like as I bought mine used
I would like to hear from anyone who tries ethanol free gas.
Here is a website to find gas stations in your state. This link is set to Colorado.

I haven't driven many sports cars outside of the 8, but for me, it's a good combination of practicality and sportiness. It has taught me the importance and meaning to have good handling.
I have driven an Ecoboost Mustang recently. Didn't like driving it all that much. Turbo lag is a big factor, but it still feels a bit clumsy, and visibility isn't as good as the 8.
While I am eager to try something different(likely a Corvette), this is still one car I have fond memories of.
A lot of people overestimate the performance of the car. Personally, I just have fun in mine without trying to race anyone. I don't have to prove anything as long as I am happy.
Then Honda Accord V6/2.0T, Civic Type R and S2000 must be rare in your area, because they will eat an RX-8 for lunch in a straight line. S2000 is also very good in terms of handling.
No difference in my experience.
I used to use Shell 91 which is E0, and I switched to Petro-Canada 91 which is E10 as I got a position at Suncor. Car runs great on both with equal amount of premix.
The only real difference at E10 is the 3% difference in gas mileage, which is very within margin of error between tanks. I think it probably has more to do with the particular gas you use versus E10 and E0.

Most the Hondas here are garbage that's true. They try but they cant keep up. With coilovers this car handles as well as the S2000 in corners. If you build this car up right with a good engine, suspension, exhaust and ignition system, you will be surprised how quick this car can be. It takes like M BMW's, Mustangs, AMG's and well tuned cars to edge this thing. That's what I find anyways, this car is pretty quick when you get it going.

Honestly I know the Rx8 isn’t the quickest thing but for a 2 rotor engine without boost mind you to be able to keep up with 3x displacement v6 engines.. just wonderful. Superb handling and there is back seats if you want them.
I no longer compare the Rx8 to a v6 or a boosted engine because they’re in totally different classes. ( I have road raced a focus ST and it got the jump b/c of torque but I started gaining it after let’s say 105-110, and I hadn’t downshifted yet when he started pulling.)
Needless to say for what this car offers it’s great. Those 2.0t accords do eat, they’re fast sedans. But if I wanted a truely fast sedan, Dodge Charger R/T. There is always someone on the road faster than you. I’ve come to accept that and just enjoy the car scene and appreciate most cars. Even the cut springs civics that try to race

In an age where a 4-door battery powered car can eat Porsche 911s, It's all academic and really.... just armchair measurebating.
It's about the joy of driving experience on your favourite country road.
