Overheated. Temp gauge fluctuating. How long do I have?

Hi. Sorry for the late reply yes I will flush my coolant ASAP. It came with FL-22. I topped it up with a normal brand coolant when I lost coolant back then. Hopefully it'll be ok until I flush it. Would changing the coolant lower my engine temps?
Why should I change my thermostat and coolant bottle?

If anyone can still see these. I know that overheating our engines typically blows a coolant seal. And that leaks coolant into the chamber. And then oil mixes with coolant.
Now I don't get white smoke when I start the car. And it runs fine. But, I peeped into my coolant tank.
Is this oil????? :O
Notice the funny white stuff on the surface. Not the big circles. Those are just reflections from the top of the tank. I'm taking about the white oil-like stuff on the surface of the coolant. Ignore that big white spec in the first pic. I think some insect fell in when I opened the lid.

Sorry about the late reply but been bussy. Old coolant bottle can cause over heating I think from the plastic warping and no longer allowing the cap to keep correct presure. Thermostat I would think was a no brainer that is a part you should replace on every car at least once a year because if it fails to open your cooked.

cant tell from the pics. if your changing your t stat and bottle i recommend getting the mazmart t stat and water pump while your at it. if its your dd you might want to get a rad too. lots of people break the nipple off the rad when changing the bottle

Ugh. That really looks like oil in the coolant to me. I would expect it to be dirtier, though. You might get this to test it:

200.mph well I haven't thought of changing the thermostat, bottle or water pump because they all work fine... For now. And this car is not my daily driver. I just take it out randomly. It's not overheating though. Car drives fine. Sounds fine. Apart from a little smoke from the exhaust on cold starts, everything's fine.
Thomcom it is oil???? that device does not ship to where I live. I'm not losing any coolant though. And this coolant hasn't been flushed since 2007 I presume. Maybe that's why it's got funny stuff on the surface?

Thanks. I have read that Overheating is not the problem anymore. I'm just worried whether I have oil in the coolant. I have attached 2 pictures further up of the coolant reservoir. It's got a weird whitish substance on the surface. Does that look like oil to you?

Overheating Issue
Hello Everyone I'm new to this forum and I have signed up because i found many good solutions to my Rx8 Issues before.
However this time I have not been able to find a solution to the overheating problem.
I owned 2007 Rx8 with 100k+ Miles on it.
It recently stopped while I was driving because the coils were old and not working (problem fixed, Installed new coils).
While towing the car the radiator was damaged and lost all the coolant. Me and my brother removed the radiator, fixed and re installed back on. We have added coolant to it and while driving the car it starting overheating. Since then we have tried replacing the termostate, the water pump and still overheating.
Water boils on the overflow deposit and sounds like air is coming out of it. We have tried some ways to get the air bleed out but seems not to be working.
Any thoughts about why is is getting overheated while it seems all the cooling system work properly?
Thank you.
