P0118, EC sensor?

First off, I swear I've been searching the forum but can't seem to find an answer- My 2004 rx-8 was fine until I replaced the battery, then bt by bit my idle started getting rough and the engine would stall. I reset the computer and it ran ok, but not great. I bought plugs/wires.. thinking about coils etc. The computer code now is p0118. The car starts after a bit of trying, .I did notice that if I did the deflood thing of keeping the gas pedal depressed all the way, it starts up, but quickly stalls again.
Is this just a simple coolant sensor that's doing this?
I really appreciate any help o info, there really isn't much on here concerning that code

I would blame the last thing you changed : the battery. Are all the connections and grounds clean and tight?

Hmmm.. They could use a clean up. I didn't really think about changing the terminals, but I'll try that and see.
Could this have anything to do with the MAF?

MAF is also possible. If you have ground/battery issues many sensors can get weird. It would make sense to inspect/clean the MAF and intake, in case there's oil on it.
But yeah, battery connections are an easy first thing to check.

Well, I changed the terminals. The spark plugs and the wires, and reset the computer- no dice.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Whats really strange is that when you start the car cold, it doesn't hold high revs the way a cold car does. It starts up, and then the rpms immediately start to drop until the car shuts off. Holding the gas pedal to keep the revs high enough doesn't help.

So sad, I'm dying to go for a drive, lol

Can you collect sensor data via OBD?
What are the airflow g/sec numbers and rpm on a cold start?
If they're lower than 5 g/sec at 800 rpm, you have a vacuum leak.
