Parts and check list

So I have begun collecting my parts and check list. To start with parts I ordered
Mishimoto:
Radiator
Fan shroud
Thermostat

Gates water pump, did look at others

Greddy:
Sp elite exhaust system
Oil filter

Parts I'm looking at still:
K&N air filter
BHR ignition system
Mishimoto hose kit 2 piece
Eneos 75w90 gear oil
Replace the belts
Fuel filter
Recommendations for filter and belts ?

Maybe, eventually
BHR mid pipe
Catch can
Motor mounts

To do list combines eveything:
New coolant
Anyone use that mishimoto chill stuff ?
Oil change, good oil to use and weight I've seen so many different post here.
Change trans fluid
Rear diff
Ignition system system coil packs, wires, plugs
Fuel filter
Is it ok to add fuel system cleaner ? Sea foam and such and when would be normal
Air filter

Anything I left off that should be checked, cleaned, replaced, the car has 134,000 miles on it, not sure if the motor was rebuilt or work done on it but it's good.

Your list has an odd mix of good parts and shady parts...

Mishimoto:
Radiator <- historically has fitment problems, you can get a brand new Koyo exact replacement for cheaper
Fan shroud <- historically has fitment problems
Thermostat <- opens too low, you could easily get a code for inability to reach operating temperature, especially with all new cooling parts. OEM or Remedy 172F thermostat are far more commonly chosen

Gates water pump, did look at others <- good

Greddy:
Sp elite exhaust system <- good, popular catback
Oil filter <- OEM i assume, good

Parts I'm looking at still:
K&N air filter <- terrible. A maybe 1hp gain at the cost of poor filtration that can indeed let in engine-damaging debris, like sand. OEM filter is better filtration by far, and flows enough for 450hp 3-rotor engines.
BHR ignition system <- good
Mishimoto hose kit 2 piece <- there are 9 hoses total, and there are bettery quality options for cheaper.
Eneos 75w90 gear oil <- good
Replace the belts <- OEM is fine, belts are easy
Fuel filter <- good, oem is fine. Our fuel filters don't have problems
Recommendations for filter and belts ?

Maybe, eventually
BHR mid pipe <- good
Catch can <- good
Motor mounts <- good

To do list combines eveything:
New coolant <- FL-22 OEM fluid is best for all-year-round set it and forget it. Lower quality coolants can lead to problems with gaskets and seals. There is a big thread about it
Anyone use that mishimoto chill stuff ?
Oil change, good oil to use and weight I've seen so many different post here. <- keep it clean and fresh and it doesn't matter. The e-shaft bearings are the only thing that the oil type and weight matter for. Higher hot weight is generally better for the bearings.
Change trans fluid
Rear diff
Ignition system system coil packs, wires, plugs
Fuel filter
Is it ok to add fuel system cleaner ? Sea foam and such and when would be normal
Air filter

I.e, Mishimoto and K&N are very poor brands to go with.

K&N used to have a good reputation, and it is has faded off badly.

Mishimoto used to have a terrible reputation, and it hasn't gotten any better, and not just on RX-8 club. I see complaints about their stuff on every Mazda forum I'm a member of. When you add that you can buy all new OEM cooling stuff from Mazmart for much cheaper, I don't understand why people would go with them.

You can also add a SOHN adapter and reservoir, to inject 2-stroke instead of 4-stroke. Cheap, and if you are pulling off all the cooling stuff, it will be even easier to replace while it's all off.

Also don't forget to change the brake fluid.

I agree with everything that RIWWP has said. The only point he didn't hit on that i think should have been touched on is the catch can. Dont underestimate the power and value that catch can will have.

Your doing all of this work now so it's really just a good idea. It helps solve issue's before they happen down the road.

There are several threads on seafoaming or using the Mazda Zoom Zoom cleaner
Hope those links help.

Just my 2 cents.
