Exclamation Pistons maybe ?

Hi, I have a rx8 2007 and I turned the car on and a few seconds later turned it off and now it wont start. My mechanic says that it "choked " and there's gas on the sparkplugs and thats why it wont start. Does anyone have any experience on this ? And what the problem may be ?

You don't have pistons. You have a rotary engine.

You flooded it. Check the stickies for the de-flood procedure and flood prevention information.

Also this is a sign that your ignition is not in the best shape, so new spark plugs, wires and ignition coils are in order. Easy enough to install if you can turn a wrench, cheaper to buy from autozone or similar store than from the dealer.

The mechanic says that the ring at the tip of the triangle is broken ( not per se a gasket ). Is that possible.

the corner seal? if any seals are damaged the engine needs a rebuild and if ant broke you probably need at least a new housing, rotor and irons

There is no ring at the tip of the rotor, I'm not sure what he is talking about. Maybe the tips of the rotors are damaged. If so you will need new rotors.

The apex seal? It's possible but the fix is a new engine. How has he determined this? I would be sceptical of a mechanic who can't adequately describe the problem. Most mechanics don't understand rotaries well enough to diagnose them. You need Mazda. It's probably just flooded as Steve Dallas pointed out. Did you search for and attempt a deflood procedure?

Since I live on Aruba we don't have a mazda dealer. I bought it ( 2007 rx8 ) from japan cause its super cheap ( 2000$ right hand drive ). The mechanic just changed the sparkplugs and now we're trying the de flood procedure as demonstrated on youtube. But the battery is a bit weak so its charging

They had rotary spark plugs there? Did they look like the ones you took out?

Interesting.
Aruba doesn't seem like the ideal place for an 8.
Isn't it almost desert like?
Do you have open highways where you can drive fast?

The rotary plugs are the same as the ones we took out. In the youtube videos it says to hold the gas in for 10 secs and then let go and repeat ? Is that correct ? The sparkplugs were changed btw.
Aruba is like Miami in spring all year round. We just bought the car cause it was cheap and very aesthetical even though arubas highways are like 2 miles.

And yes, generally, you really need either a) an authorized Mazda mechanic who's worked on rotary engines or b) a good non-Mazda mechanic who knows rotary engines. I wouldn't trust anyone else. And I would drive up to 100 miles to find one of the above. But that's just me.

In that case you should be prepared to do a of of research and learn how to properly maintain your 8.

There are lots of things that can and should be done fairly easily with a little investment in some basic tools.
You will save a LOT of money.
Good luck!
