Planning an RX8 purchase expert help please!
Good evening and it's great to be here.
I have driven a few RX8's over the past few years and am now in the position to buy a fun and occasional car. I have come across a 2005 car in stormy blue mica, 192 BHP with 3 owners and 35k on the clock. It's a very good price for a weekend toy and very tempting. I am quite experienced with second hand cars, a bit of a nutter for correct servicing and have done my research on fuel / oil consumption. I have read about cold / hot start issues but would value help on more detail here. Could someone also help on what else to be aware of? I am looking at the car tomorrow. Also I believe Adrain Flux does a special limited mileage policy for this car. Does anyone know about this? I am getting a quote tomorrow so I can feed that info back. Thanks very much all and looking forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Charles.

Is it 4AT or 5MT(since you are from the UK)?
What you are looking at is a 192-BHP 4-port version of the RX-8. There is a better version with 232 BHP and 6 ports(2 extra intake ports). 4-port is generally not recommended, as it has less power, lower redline, and repair and replacement will be more expensive than the 6-port version due to them being rarer. Unless you can't drive MT, or you really just want that tiny amount of extra torque, keep looking.
As for insurance, no one can help you. Quote for everyone is different. Just go to the insurance company and ask for a quote.
Read the New Owner sticky thread(or rx8 help.com) if you haven't already.

40th anniversary Edition
Read the link that Loki posted. And stay away from the 192 AT, they are the most problematic engines and have been shown to have a much higher engine failure rate (partially due to fewer ports and partially due to the AT limiting your ability to rev to redline, leading to more carbon buildup and that can lead to earlier seal failure) . Some may argue these points, but most know to stay away from the 4-port AT cars.
