If 171 is a vacuum leak, the ECU is massively confused trying to correlate the MAF readings with the 02 sensor. I knows it is lean (from the 02, and is pumping in all the extra gas it can) up to a limit, and still lean. Depending on where it is, the leak confuses it more. A leak before the throttle body will show up more at high RPM, one after it will show up more at low RPM. Either way, fix it. Look for a broken or lose vacuum hose. Also, check the rubber tube the MAF plugs into. I had a 6 with a cracked tube. It only was an issue when you were on the power, and the engine moved, and opened up the holes. PITA to find. At idle it was perfect with no leaks.

Plug in all the lines.
The computer will adjust around a lot with the fuel trims. When it can no longer adjust, it throws that code. There may be something else wrong, but if you have an open vacuum line, it will likely cause that error, and will cause damage if the engine runs too lean. Reconnect everything. Post of a picture of the line that was disconnected if you can, and reset the code. Let us know how it goes. If you could also post data on the car, and your location, we might be able to help a bit more.
Also, you keep saying MAP. There is a MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) with several wires running to it just after the air filter box. This should be inserted, with no leaks around it it, and wired up.
