correct, I realize this...but apparently Mazda had OEM plug wires that are black slightly thicker and a bit more expensive compared to NGK's...where as all this time I thought Mazda Has been using NGK plug wires too

This might be a case where the distinction between OE and OEM might help.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, i.e. a company that makes parts for the car company.

OE = Original Equipment, i.e. the exact part that came on the car from the factory (or an updated version thereof).

NGK might be an OEM for Mazda's spark plug wires, i.e. when you buy Mazda-branded wires, they're actually made by NGK. But that doesn't mean the NGK-branded spark plug wire set is exactly the same as the Mazda-branded one. Maybe it is; maybe it isn't.

The OEM NGK should be a slightly better quality product since they're made to OEM quality specifications. The NGK OE plug wires may not be made to those same standards, but they have worked well for me for $10 less.

I would bet dollars to donuts that the difference in real world performance will be so small that you'd need sophisticated instruments to measure it.

I run NGK's per BHR ignition system and they work amazing!
